Sometime ago I talked about my newspapers were dying and pointed a lot of the blame on the Internet. The Internet has a lot of great uses to help perform common tasks that are either time consuming or just a plain pain to do. These include the following:
1. I can look up a phone number on the web faster then it takes me to get the phone book.
2. The best way to map out directions to a place you are going to. Google and Mapquest do a great job of this.
3. Looking up where to see a movie and what times movies play is easy on the Internet.
4. Booking a plane or train ticket. It’s faster the calling on the phone.
5. Looking up the discount flyers that were not delivered to my apartment this month.
6. Doing banking without running to the bank or a bank machine.
7. Ordering books/other merchandise online.
8. Getting music online – I do not remember the last time I was in HMV.
9. Checking news/sports scores online. No need to wait for the morning newspaper or nightly news cast.
10. Socializing with my friends online.
