The world we live in is changing greatly. It used to be everything was stationary and that we did not move around as much. Today’s society has a thirst for knowledge and is constantly on the go. As the result most of us carry more powerful computers in our pockets then we did on our desks 4 years ago. The reality is the Smartphone is a computer.

The reason that mobile devices succeed is that we want everything at our fingertips. Today’s world is I need information now driven. 10 years ago if you took a trip, you would do all kinds of research before hand print it out/write it down and take it on our trip. Now we take a computing device and look up local restaurants while we are away or even use Mapquest to find out the directions from point a to point b.

I go even to the extreme. I always have my laptop or netbook with me. I use a rocket stick when I am away to connect to the Internet. I will even use my laptop to answer email on the commuter train to save myself time later. I often do these tasks on my Iphone as well on the go.

Let’s take it one step further, Apple has come out with the Ipad. The reason they have, is because it is a mobile multimedia device. If people did not need portability we would all be using our desktops. The netbook sold more units then any other class of computers last year. Two reasons – 1. price and 2. portability.

Potability is so important that Starbucks in Canada offers two hours of free Wi-fi with the purchase of a coffee. Most of us have Hi-Speed Internet at home and now we want to go out use it in a coffee shop? It is all about having information at our fingertips.

Mobile Computing is the future of computing and the future is now.
